Field of Architecture and Civil Engineering

The field of Architecture and Civil Engineering is to study the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the infrastructure needed for human life and society, it  includes two first-level disciplines: covering architecture, civil engineering.Civil engineering is an important engineering field of basic construction which builds and create all kinds of Engineering facilities for Human life.

Civil engineering is one of the pillar industries in the development of national economy, having a very close relationship with the human basic necessities of life. It is not only an old subject but also a rapidly developing field of engineering, which involvesinvestigation, design, construction and maintenance of all kinds of engineering facilities.

Civil engineering and architecture, covering the field of structural engineering, Geo-technical engineering, municipal engineering, bridge and tunnel engineering, railway engineering, road engineering, disaster prevention and reduction engineering, building materials, decoration engineering, construction economics and management specialty. Related fields include: safety engineering, hydraulic engineering, surveying and mapping engineering, computer application technology, etc. The research topics about aforementioned aspects are all included in the field of civil engineering.


Research Orientations:

1.Structural Engineering

Study on structural seismic damping and vibration reduction and control, long-span special structure, reinforced concrete structure theory and application technologies, steel structure theory and application technologies, structural damage identification and health monitoring, new materials for engineering structures and application and so on.

2. Geo-technical Engineering

The main research orientation based on soil mechanics, rock mechanics, engineering geology and other basic theory, focus on the basic theory of geo-technical engineering, geo-technical engineering stability analysis, geo-technical engineering testing and monitoring ,the effect of environment on mechanical properties of rock and soil and its stability,  rock and soil reinforcement technology, geo-technical engineering computer simulation technology, geo-technical engineering blasting technology, roadbed and pavement engineering, foundation engineering, slope engineering, underground engineering design theory and new construction technology and so on.

3. Disaster Prevention and Reduction Engineering and Protection Engineering

This research orientation is composed of geology, mining, surveying, mechanics, civil engineering and other disciplines. It aims to study the disasters generation mechanism, laws and characteristics by mining; the causes and law of disasters in civil engineering; the disaster prediction, prediction method and control technology; the disaster prevention technologies and engineering design.
